MIXED UP CRAFT

Pop’s Hen Weekend at Beautiful Bosinver

Being asked to be Bridesmaid for my best friend Kate was amazing, friends for over 13 years, I was so chuffed and honoured. There was just under a year until the big day so the planning of the hen weekend needed to start asap.  Myself and Natalie, Kate’s sister who was also a bridesmaid, both live the other side of the world in China & Australia! So logistically not the best for planning a Hen Party but the internet makes it so easy these days.

Kate had told me that she wanted a cottage with a hot tub and wasn’t bothered about going into any clubs etc, she wanted something girly and fun to share with her closest friends.

I typed ‘Posh Hen Weekends’ into google and it wasn’t long until I found Bosinver!

I fell in love with it straight away, it offered everything we wanted. I showed it to Natalie and she to agreed so I booked it!

I booked Lowen the beautiful Eco Cottage which sleeps 8 and the two cottages next door Hydrangea & Buddleia both sleeping 4.

After waiting 7 months from when I originally booked it the time had come and the weekend was finally here

We had managed to keep it a secret from Kate and as you can see she was very surprised!

Complementary Victoria sponge cake in every fridge was a really nice touch and didn’t last long!

The cottages look amazing online but we were blown away, the detail and quality put into each cottage are exceptional.

It was the perfect backdrop for me to go crazy with my crafty decorations and with the help of some other hens we were able to decorate it ready for Kate’s arrival.

With the party underway we enjoyed an evening of games, drinking (Chinese Baijiu!), eating & the wonderful hot tub!

Waking up at 6am (jet lag!) me and another hen watched the beautiful sunrise, we felt a million miles away from everyone.

Truly beautiful.

We had a slow lazy morning, enjoying fresh bacon sandwiches, pastries and more of the hot tub!

With our hangovers slowly fading I had organised an afternoon of games at Porthpean beach, Bosinver has a great supply of buckets & spades, windbreaks, blankets, BBQs etc for you to borrow so you need not worry about bringing these things yourself. I had also arranged for the Polgooth local shop to deliver fresh Pasties, Sausage rolls and drinks to us, Sam and Mark were really accommodating about doing this and it was another nice surprise for Kate.

We dressed Kate up in a very funny Chicken/Hen costume and headed to the beach which was just a short 15-minute drive away. With the weather on our side, we had a laugh building sand castles and playing relay games with our giant willies!

That evening I had booked us a table at the lovely Polgooth Inn, nice atmosphere and amazing food!

On Sunday some people had to leave early so I had arranged for one last game

Say Yes to the Dress!

We were so lucky again with the weather so decided to take a walk around the grounds.

Bosinver is set over 35 acres with 20-holiday cottages, there is an indoor pool, animal feeding, Gruffalo trail, zip line, woodland walks, cycling, play barn and lots more. There is also homemade frozen meals for you at reception for very reasonable prices and fresh eggs daily.

For the last evening, we relaxed in the hot tub drinking red wine and enjoyed a lovely Indian takeaway a perfect end to a brilliant weekend.

Thank you to Pat, Dave and your team, Bosinver is a truly wonderful place, you can clearly see that it is a labour of love and your attention to detail certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

We are sad its over but promise to return!
