Fold Flat Gift Bag with Wooden Handle

Hi everyone, today I have another Father’s Day inspired project.

These Fold Flat Gift Bags with Wooden Handle are an updated version of the Multi-Loop Gift Bags I made last year.

I had recently purchased some wooden dowels from The Works and wanted to use them to make these gift bags.

You can purchase the wooden dowels here.

These fold flat, so you can make lots of them and store them away until you need them.

These measure 4″ x , so a good size for lots of goodies.

I used the Wallace & Gromit die-cuts from Papercraft Essentials Magazine, Issue 174

Available from Craft Stash here.

The papers used are from the First Editon, Grand Plans pack.

This is an older pack, but I’ve found it available here.

I love the style of these bags and think the wooden handle works great.

To make these you will need…

2 pieces of 8″ x 12″ pattern paper for the front and back.

Score along the 12″ side at 2″ & 11″ and also at 4″ but only on one of the pieces.

Score along the 8″ side at 2.1/2 & 5.1/2 just down to the first score line.

2 pieces of 5″ x 11″ plain cardstock for the sides.

Score along the 5″ side at 1/2″ & 4.1/2 and also at 2.1/2 but only down to the first score line.

Score along the 11″ side at 4″ & 6″ but only within the 1/2″ & 4.1/2 scorelines.

2 pieces of 4″ x 8″ cardstock for the base and inside.

Extra cardstock for the closure and to decorate the ends of the wooden dowels.

Wooden dowels & ribbon.

The velcro dots I use are the 20mm ones from the Dot & Dab range. They are available here.

Check out my full tutorial below to see how I made them.

If you would like to see the other version I made, I’ve shared it below.

I love the toppers on these bags.

I love the effect you get when wrapping the ribbon around the handles.
