Bird Box Gift Bag

Hi everyone, today I have something special to share.

I’ve made this very sweet Bird Box Gift Bag or Storage Box, and I love it!

Every time I use the beautiful Dovecraft, ‘Secret Garden’ collection I just want to make boxes or create little scenes.

You can find all of the Secret Garden collection available from Craft Stash here.

I’ve been inspired by so many of you who have been sharing your ‘She Shed’ makes on Mixed Up Crafters and made my roof after seeing one of my crafty friends Louise do this style on hers.

I love how some 1″ circles cut from kraft card can make such a cool roof!

I love all the add on’s that match the papers to this collection and wanted to create something based around the cute wooden birds, and so a Bird Box seemed a perfect idea.

To make this you will need…

2 pieces of 5.1/2 x 9″ kraft card for the front and back.

Score along the 5.1/2 side score at 5″
Score along the 9″ side score at 8.1/2

2 pieces of 8″ x 8″ pattern paper to cover the front and back.

2 pieces of 5.1/2 x 7″ kraft card for the sides.

Score along the 5.1/2 side at 5″

Score along the 7″ side at 1/2″ & 6.1/2

2 pieces of 5.3/4 x 4.3/4 pattern paper to cover the sides.

1 piece of 6″ x 6″  chipboard for the base.

1 piece of 6″ x 6″ pattern paper to cover the base.

2 pieces of 6″ x 5″ kraft card for the roof.

Score along the 5″ side at 3/4″

65 circles, 1″ in diameter to cover the roof, this is optional.

Check out my full tutorial below.

By adding a chipboard base it helps strengthen the box and make it more durable and long lasting.

You don’t have to make it into a bird box, this style will also work well as a house, and would make a perfect gift for someone moving home.

I hope you like today’s project, I thought I would share it on a Friday so that you have the weekend to hide away in your craft spaces and make it!

Can’t wait to see you’re versions over on the Mixed Up Crafters Facebook group.

Have a great weekend

Happy crafting
