Diamond Gatefold Cards

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing these unusual Diamond Gatefold cards.

Diamond Gatefold Card

You all know I love a fun fold card and I’m always looking at ways to create new folds or adapt folds that have already been done.

Diamond Gatefold Card

I got this idea after seeing a version created by Debbie Henderson, hers was smaller and a little different so I decided to create a 5″ x 7″ & 6″ X 6″ version and also added a pocket holding a panel for you to write your message.

Both sizes fold completely flat and fit into a 5″ x 7″ or 6″ x 6″ envelope.

To make these cards you will need…

1 piece of 12″ x 12″ double-sided pattern paper. I used papers from the new First Edition Gardenia paper pad available from Amazon.

For the 5″ x 7″ size card.

Fold the card stock as I show you in my video below and score at 3.1/2 & 6″, then flip and score at 3.1/2 & 6″, then rotate and score at 6″

2 pieces of 3″ x 3″ pattern paper to decorate the front diamond shapes, this is optional.

1 piece of 4.1/4 x 5.1/4 to mat the inside of the card.

1 piece of 3.3/4 x 4.3/4 to layer on top.

1 piece of 4.3/4 x 6″ white cardstock for your panel.

1 piece of 4.1/4 x 5.1/2 pattern paper to layer on top.

1 piece of 3.3/4 x 5″ white paper to layer on top to write your message.

2″ circle die cut to pull the panel out.

Flowers and embellishments to decorate.

***Update these measurements below may be wrong, I’m currently on holiday until the 25th and then I will check when I’m back. Sam πŸ™‚ ***

I really enjoyed making these and I love that there are many ways to change it and make it work for you.

I heat embossed my sentiment and used the Woodware “Big Birthday Words” stamp set from Craftstash.

I think the Daisy flowers look lovely and really stand out on the front diamond sides.

  1. Yet another beautiful card Sam! I love the pocket where you can also add a gift card inside! Surely have to make one of these.

  2. Hi Sam I’ve just tried making the 6 x 6 gatefold and scored at 21/2 and 5 and flipped and done the same and then rotated but the card didn’t matchup ….I then tried 21/2 and 51/2 on both sides and then rotated and scored at 5 ? And seems to have worked.

  3. Tried making the 6Γ—6 card and measurements were short, the diamonds are small and don’t overlap. Could you do a video for the 6Γ—6 sp I can figure out what I did wrong.

    Thanks in advance,
    Yvette

  4. Hi Yvette, I shared a post about this on my Facebook page a couple days ago as many people have made it with no problems, where as some have had problems. I’m currently away with family and don’t have the cards with me to check sizes. Next week I will check my measurements and let people know. I work on my own so I will get back to you as soon as I know. Sam πŸ™‚
