MIXED UP CRAFT

Accordion Pop-Up Cards

Hi everyone, back in October 2020 I made an Accordion Card for Making Cards & Papercraft magazine, which I shared on my FB page with the link to that exclusive tutorial. Fast forward 5 months and I briefly shared the same card in my recent ‘How To Make An Envelope’ tutorial.

I received many comments on that video along with emails and messages asking me to share how I made it, so I decided to make these beautiful versions for my channel.

This is such a beautiful style card and so easy to do. You don’t need to use butterflies, you can use any flying critter but I recommend it is a symmetrical image. You can also use shapes, I’ve already started to see some beautiful versions being shared on our group using hearts for Valentine’s cards.

The turquoise version was the original one I made and the yellow and purple are the newest versions.

For the front of the cards, I’ve continued the butterfly theme, with a nod to the detail that’s inside.

There is plenty of space on the inside to write your message, however, like with most of my cards, I’ve kept the back for my message.

It’s always all the little details on the cards that I enjoy the most.

There is so much texture on these cards, from the dimension of the butterflies to the embossed background and Nuvo Drops, there is so much to look at.

SUPPLIES USED TO MAKE THESE CARDS

The Hampton Arts Layered Butterfly stamp set was purchased in Hobbycraft about 2 years ago, it an old set but there are sellers on eBay.

Chunky Alphabet dies here.

Spectrum Noir Quick-Dry Inks here.

Nuvo Drops available here.

Papercraft Society Kit 14 available here.

There aren’t really measurements for this card, as you can use any size you like. Mine are all 6 x 6 cards with 5.3/4 x 5.3/4 and 5.1/2 x 5.1/2 mats and layers.

Check out my full tutorial below to see how I made them.
