I’ve been asked by A few people now to do a bigger reinforced gift box. Over 5 months ago I done a 4 x 4 reinforced gift box so it was time for another one.
These gift boxes are great and a really good size for lots of gifts and for storage.
I used 12 x 12 papers instead of card, because it was being reinforced it made the boxes very strong and both my Tombow and Aleenas wet glue dry hard adding more strengh.
It wasn’t until I put it all together that I thought it would be nice to have stamped the inside base with a sentiment of some sort, so that’s always a nice added touch if you wanted.
To make this gift box you will need…
2 pieces of 12 x 12 paper mine are from China from a Chinese website not available outside China however I have found the same papers being sold on Ali Express
Score along one side at 6′ & 9′ then rotate and score at 6′
1 piece of 10.1/16 x 10.1/16
Score at 1′ & 2′ then pull the card out slightly and score at 8.1/8 & 9.1/8, rotate and repeat.
1 piece of 5.3/4 x 5.3/4 card to mat your lid
1 piece of 5.1/2 x 5.1/2 again to mat your lid
1 piece of 5.1/4 x 5.1/4 to sit on the top with a sentiment of your choice.
Check out my tutorial below to see how its made.
I plan on making a square gift box in every size possible as I think these style boxes are classics and the quick easy ‘go to’ option we sometimes need.
Hope you enjoy this nice project.
Happy crafting.
Sam.
