New Year

2017 Highlights

Hi everyone, so our NYE plans are up in the air at the moment as the air quality in Ningbo is terrible and its turned really cold, our nice day walking, eating and drinking hasn’t really happened! I’m now back at home in the warmth so thought I would write a blog.

I only started my YouTube channel in January 2017 and never ever thought I would be nearly a year on with 174 videos uploaded and nearly 5000 subscribers! I’m truly blessed.

I thought I would take a look back at my 10 favourite and most popular projects of 2017

First up…

Trinket Box with Decorative Chain Detail

This was one of my earlier tutorials, I really love the subtle tone on tone colours used and the detail of the chain inside. This box currently sits on the bedside table in my parents guest room.

Mothers Day Reinforced Gift Box

These were really popular with friends and family for Mothers Day, the idea came from my mums love of Tunnocks Tea Cakes so I decided to make a nice box to gift them in.

Book Box Gift Box

This is still one of my favorite tutorials, you all know my love of Kraft card and using that in this project worked so well. This makes a wonderful gift box and keepsake.

Pop Up Daisy Crate

I think this is my prettiest project of 2017, I love pop up cards and had an obsession with Daisy’s earlier this year, this again made a lovely keepsake and is currently still being enjoyed in my mums craft room.

Waterfall Card

This is by far my most popular tutorial of 2017 with 135,000 views!!! I still cant believe its been viewed that much, its definitely one I will be redoing in 2018.

Origami Pen Pot

I love making storage and home decor things and I’m still using this fun, colourful pen pot now. I really enjoy making Origami projects and living in China I so so many amazing designs I’m always inspired.

Unusual Closing Oriental Gift Bag

I still love this bag and have yet to find any other like it on YouTube, again inspired by the boxes they present fruit in in China this was another hit on my channel this year.

Pop Up Card

Another favourie card design of mine is this pop up card, I was inspired by a garden rockery and so this design came about. It was also very popular on my channel with over 37,000 views.

Clutch Bag Gift Bag

I still look at this in my display cabinet, its the only gift bag I’ve never given away, I wish it was real so I could take it out. This is a huge favourite of mine.

Orb Decorations

I couldn’t write this blog without mentioning the Famous Orb Christmas Decorations! I never knew just how popular these would become and I’m still seeing them pop up now. So many people have made these, changing the sizes and using them to hold treats in, I’ve loved seeing all the different variations, one lady made over 70!!! Wow.

Of course there are so many other favourites of mine but these ones stand out!

I have truly loved every single tutorial I have made and the ever growing support I receive from you all via, messages, comments and being sent pictures of your makes its all wonderful.

I have to also thank my wonderful husband Neil for his support and help enabling me to do all this, I’m very blessed and lucky to be doing something I love so much.

2017 has also been good to me as I became a Design Team member for Hobbybase UK with my weekly live Facebook craft along’s, I enjoy this so much.

So that’s it for 2017 and my last blog post for this year, I’m going to be heading out shortly to start the evenings celebrations and see in the new year.

Have a safe and fun time celebrating what ever you are doing and I will be back again in 2018.

Love

Sam
