Love Is In The Air

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

I’m enjoying mine at my wonderful nan’s with my mum, it’s a proper girly day!

I gave nan her card and gift and she was so happy to receive it and even shed a little tear!

In excitement, she ripped open the gift box!… Now I must admit, it was like a dagger in my heart seeing that gorgeous box ripped apart but it was all worth it to see the look of joy on her face.

How does it make you feel when you see the projects you have spent hours making ripped up into little pieces?

It really doesn’t bother me, it’s why I do it. Mum and I were laughing as she ripped it open and I held my heart and pretended to cry 😂

She also loved the card I made for her and it now proudly sits on her mantle.

How will you be spending yours?

Enjoy your day, whatever you’re doing.

Sam

xoxo

  1. Hi Sam,

I do know what you mean about holding your heart when you give something to someone and they do not seem to appreciate the time and effort you have put into making the project. They do, but not as a crafter like ourselves would.

I made handmade gift tags for all my family at Christmas, these were embossed with their names on etc. etc. But on Christmas morning they were used to read whose present belonged to who and then they were scrunched up with the wrapping paper and put into the bin !!!!! :O000 My heart dropped then but when I saw how happy they all were it didn’t matter, I had enjoyed making the gift tags for them so I decided that if they ended up in the bin that was ok because what else did I expect them to do to with them, keep them as keep sakes. A gift tag!!! If I didn’t want them to go into the bin then I should not have made handmade ones I should have gone and bought a £1 set and put these onto their present instead.

Your Nan looked as though she had a day to remember with yourself and your Mum. She will look at your card and remember today even after you have had to go back home.

Thank you though Sam for sharing this moment with us crafters it is really appreciated. :O)

  2. Hi Sam,

Thank you for sending me this email today with the link to your latest blog post – Love is in the Air

I am glad that you had a great day with your Nan and Mum today Sam. These days are precious and far and few between if you are anything like my daughter so your Mum and Nan will treasure today for ever. My daughter is not living in a different country like you are, but she is very busy training to be a nurse and has her life with her boyfriend. I love the time we do get to spend together even if it is just a cuddle and a chat when she pops over to collect her mail.

Thank you for sharing your day with us crafters.

    Till your next email

    Lorraine

  3. I love seeing peoples faces when they open cards or see the gift boxes and bags I’ve made…at the end of the day its only paper and as you say I don’t expect them to keep it all, maybe just the odd really special ones. The joy for me is making them and seeing how my projects make people smile. I’ve never worried what happens to them after. My Nan loved her gift and we have had a wonderful week together x
