Hi everyone, today I have an unusual Designer Handbag Gift Bag to share.
I’m really pleased with the final result and love how the chain effect handle turned out.
They are a nice size measuring 5″ x 7″ and strong as the base is re-enforced so perfect for heavier items like a candle.
I love using the Kraft Card as you can really manipulate it and it won’t rip or crack, I love the worn leathery/bark effect you can get. This is the same technique I used for the Faux Wooden Handle gift bag below.
The chain effect detail on these really sets them off and makes them look very fancy.
To make these you will need…
1 piece of 12″ x 10″ cardstock.
Score along the 10″ side at 1″, 2.1/2, 7.1/2 & 9″
Score along the 12″ side at 4.1/2 x 7.1/2
1 piece of 3.1/4 x 7.1/2 kraft card for your flap. Score along the 7.1/2 side at 1″
1 piece of 5″ x 5.1/2 kraft card for your base. Score along the 5.1/2 side at 1.1/4 & 4.1/4
1 piece of 1.1/4 x 4.1/4 kraft card for your handle. Score along the 1.1/4 side at 5/8″
2 pieces of 1″ x 2″ kraft card to decorate the bottom corners of your bag. Score along the 2″ side at 1″
2 pieces of 1.1/2 x 3/4″ kraft card to decorate the top corners of your bag. Score along the 1.1/2 side at 3/4″
6 pieces of 4.3/8 x 1/4″ kraft card for your rings.
1 piece of 4.3/8 x 3/8″ kraft card for your closer.
I use the Docrafts Kraft Stax A4 card.
I distressed everything with the Tim Holtz “Vintage Photo” Distress Oxide ink pad available from Hobbycraft
I use 2 metal buckles to attach my handle, these are from The Works you get 16 for 1 pound.
Check out my full tutorial below to see how I made them.
The flower detail breaks up the brown kraft card and gives it a pretty finish.
These would also look lovely in patterned paper with plain coloured handles etc.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have fun making this gift bag.
Have a wonderful week.
