Hi everyone, I have another fold flat gift bag… can’t you tell I just love making things!
These short & wide fold flat gift bags are perfect for cupcakes and mini Birthday or Christmas cakes, which Is what I plan to use them for.
I opted for a thick single handle for this bag, however, you can easily add two if you prefer.
The papers for this version are from the First Edition “Botanical” paper pack and aren’t actually Christmas papers, however, I think this particular page looks very festive.
As always the gift bag folds flat, but I do show you how to make it in its rigid form if you would rather.
Below is my other version using the First Edition “Jolly Holidays” paper pack.
To make these you will need…
1 piece of 1.1/4 x whatever length you want card stock for your handle.
2 pieces of 12″ x 12″ pattern paper or card stock.
Score along the 12″ side with your paper facing the right way up at 6″ & 11.1/2
Rotate your paper so that the 1/2″ tab you have created is towards the top of your scoreboard, score at 6.1/2, then flip your paper over and score at 1″.
Above is all the scoring you need if you don’t want the gift bag to fold flat. If you do want it to fold flat then you need to place your paper so that the 1/2″ tab is again running along the top of your scoreboard and score at 3.3/4 down to the second scoreline on of your 12 x 12 pieces and all the way down on the other piece.
Then rotate your paper back to its original position with the 1/2 tab on the right-hand side and score at 8.3/4 down to the second scoreline, do this on both pieces.
For a couple other scorelines and how to cut the slits for your handle please watch my full tutorial below.
I have attached a template below so you can see the score lines more clearly.
Some simple decoration with a few die cut sprigs and some circle shapes.
Another cute and handy gift bag.
I hope you like it and give it a go.
Happy crafting everyone and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
