Hi everyone, earlier today I shared these pretty Butterfly Pop Up Box Cards.
These are made using the new Mariposa papers by First Edition.
I sat down with a movie and fussy cut some of the butterflies from one of the beautiful pages. I love my box cards to be full and if you look closely you will be able to see a little Fairy die cut which is one of the new Simply Creative mini dies.
I’ve made so many of this style before and have found many different ways to put them together, this version is bar far the easiest way.
I also always like to use clear acetate strips to stick my butterflies on, as I like them to look like they are flying.
You can keep your very back panel ridged however I always like to keep mine folded over like the other side. You can see in the picture below that you can room to write your message underneath.
They fold nice and flat and fit into a 6″ x 6″ envelope.
To make these you will need…
1 piece of 12″ x 6″ cardstock for your main card base. Score along the 12″ side at 2.7/8, 5.3/4, 8.5/8 & 11.1/2 then flip your cardstock over and score along the 6″ side at 3.1/2. By flipping your cardstock over this will help prevent any cracking when we fold all of the scorelines.
4 pieces of 2.3/4 x 3.1/4 white cardstock to mat all of your large sides.
3 pieces of 2.5/8 x 3.1/8 pattern paper to layer on top of your mats.
4 pieces of 2.3/4 x 2.3/8 white cardstock to mat your 4 folded sides.
4 pieces of 2.5/8 x 2.1/4 pattern paper to layer over the mats.
3 strips of 3/4 x 3.7/8″ cardstock to attach all of your floating elements. Score along the long side at 1/2″ & 3.3/8.
Acetate strips mine were 3/8″ x 8.1/4 and then cut to different length as I added all my butterflies.
Butterflies or whatever you want to decorate.
Check out my easy tutorial below to see how I made them.
Like I said before I do adore this style and think it really works well for most occasions.
